Carbamide peroxide teeth whitening. Sounds like a highly potent and dangerous mix or process - but the question is what is it? Relax. Carbamide peroxide is a type of peroxide which is the main ingredient used in many teeth whitening products including teeth whitening pens, gels and trays.

As mentioned earlier, most teeth whitening products use peroxide to bleach or whiten teeth. The most popular formulations and mixtures, including those used by many dentists contain carbamide peroxide. At home whitening kit that offers a solution around 10% carbamide peroxide. Many manufactures do not disclose the strength of their peroxide solution so exercise extreme caution. If you can reach the manufacturer ask what form of peroxide their product contains and its strength. It is, however, probably safe to assume that if a product instructs you to use the solution overnight or for more than an hour it is weaker than a solution you can use for only 20 minutes.

Remember, whether you use a carbamide peroxide teeth whitening solution or a teeth whitening tray that contains hydrogen peroxide, results will vary. Also, keep in mind the safety concerns associated with teeth bleaching products and when in doubt about whether you are using too much solution or leaving it on your teeth too long, err on the side of caution.
