Getting Your Teeth Several Shades Lighter With Teeth Whitening Kits

People with yellow or discolored teeth now have more options than ever for getting a whiter smile. Teeth whitening kits have grown in popularity over the years and are now available just about anywhere you can buy toothpaste. There are also whitening strips, whitening toothpastes, even ways to whiten your teeth while you tan! It's easy and inexpensive to get great looking teeth.

There are several reasons people have yellow teeth or discolored teeth. The most common reason for teeth stains is drinking coffee or tea. But teeth yellowing also comes with age. Even if you brush everyday, the older you get, the more likely it is your teeth will start to change color. Thankfully, you can do something about it just by using Teeth whitening kits. Other people get stains by using certain medications or by smoking. Many people go to the dentist for help in making their teeth white again. In office procedures are effective but can also be costly. That is why a lot of people just opt for a take home whitening kit from your dentist.

When you purchase a whitening kit, it usually consists of a mouth tray and some gel. The gel is what will whiten the teeth. It contains a bleaching agent that penetrates the enamel and lightens it. The ingredient that bleaches the teeth is usually Hydrogen Peroxide or carbamide peroxide. This is the same ingredients dentist use with their whitening procedures. Simply fill the tray with the gel and place it in your mouth for a certain amount of time. You can do this while you are watching TV or cleaning house or even while you are sleeping. You may have to repeat this process several times before you achieve your desired results. As with all teeth whitening kits, you should follow the instructions exactly.

Because of the ingredients used in the gel and the fact that it penetrates your tooth enamel, some teeth whiteners can cause teeth to become sensitive to hot and cold beverages. You can buy over the counter toothpastes that will help with the teeth sensitivity. You can also talk to your dentist about additional ways to help your tooth sensitivity.

In addition to using your whitening kits, make sure you brush as often as you can or at least rinse your mouth out after each meal. Especially after drinking coffee, tea or wine.
